U.S. President Donald Trump pressured the leader of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, during the meeting they held last Saturday at the White House to reach a quick solution to the Ukrainian conflict, reports The Wall Street Journal citing sources.
The leader told Zelensky that his main priority is to end the conflict and clarified that he is not committed to any specific territorial outcome, according to U.S., European, and Ukrainian officials.
Trump is also said to have stated that it is not a priority for Ukraine to regain Donbass, noting that Russia controls a large part of the region. In addition, he is said to have communicated to Zelensky his desire to reach a quick solution to the conflict, regardless of the fate of the region.

The American leader also stated that Kyiv should not expect to receive Tomahawk cruise missiles soon. According to sources, Trump was “brusque” with Zelensky during the meeting and at times expressed his frustration, refusing at one point to review the battlefield maps presented by the Ukrainians.
Moscow’s proposal envisions Kyiv completely withdrawing its troops from the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and from the provinces of Zaporozhie and Kherson (incorporated into Russia after popular consultations in 2022) and recognizing these territories, as well as Crimea and Sevastopol, as subjects of the Russian Federation. In addition, neutrality and non-alignment must be guaranteed, as well as the denuclearization, demilitarization, and denazification of Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that his country is ready for dialogue and an agreement, but insists on the need to address the root causes of the conflict, such as NATO expansion and discrimination against Russian-speaking people in Ukraine.
Russia has reiterated that there is no “magic weapon” that can change the course of the Ukrainian conflict. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the sending of Tomahawks “would simply inflict colossal damage on the prospects for normalizing relations between Russia and the U.S. and for abandoning the absolute dead end to which the Biden administration led these relations.”
