Los Angeles.- The U.S. Department of Justice sued this Wednesday a California state law that prohibits new sales of Glock-style semi-automatic pistols that can be easily converted into machine guns, on the grounds that it violates the constitutional Second Amendment.
n” “nThe new confrontation between the White House and the most populous U.S. state, led by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, arises over state law AB 1127, which went into effect this Wednesday, July 1.
n” “nThe measure covers popular pistols manufactured by Glock, as well as those with similar designs, that use a ‘cruciform trigger bar’ which, according to the law’s proponents, facilitates their conversion into a repeating and fully automatic weapon through the use of a simple, easily obtainable ‘switch’.
n” “n“The Second Amendment is a sacred right that belongs to all Americans, including those in California. California cannot ban the most popular type of handgun in America,” declared Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
