Caracas.– The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced this Wednesday that, at some point, she plans to travel to the United States, after meeting with the US Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, in Caracas. During the meeting, both officials established a long-term productive partnership in energy matters that will include projects in oil, gas, mining and electric power.
Rodríguez pointed out that the cooperation seeks to make the energy agenda a driving force in the bilateral relationship, with productive and beneficial results for both countries. The president emphasized that, although there are still no defined dates for her visit to Washington, she is focused on her responsibilities within Venezuela.
The meeting this Wednesday marks the first visit by a senior U.S. official after the military attack last January, and it takes place in a context of opening up to
foreign capital in the Venezuelan oil sector and the relaxation of restrictions by the U.S. Department of the Treasury for North American companies.
With this approach, Venezuela and the United States seek to strengthen energy cooperation, promote investment, and consolidate strategic projects that drive the development of both countries.
