Monte Plata.– The president of the Association of Short Cycles of the municipality of Bayaguana, Leonel Marte Mejía, requested the president of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to fulfill the delivery of the promised land to more than 40 agricultural producers in the area.

Marte Mejía explained that these farmers currently do not have land to plant their products, which limits their ability to produce food for the national market and, at the same time, support their families.

“Necesitamos esa tierra para trabajar con dignidad, producir nuestros rubros y aportar a la economía local y nacional”, expresó.

The leader also pointed out that, although maintenance is currently being carried out on the entrance to the land in question, they have information that people with power are trying to seize those plots.

“It is worrying that some want to take over what was promised to small producers who really need it,” he denounced.

In that sense, he called on President Luis Abinader and the competent authorities to respect the commitment made by the president and to proceed with the equitable distribution of the lands, granting at least 10 tareas to each producer. For her part, Mrs. Felipa Fabián, one of the beneficiary producers, assured that in those lands it is planned to cultivate items such as pumpkin, plantain, banana, passion fruit, among others, thus contributing to the country’s food security and the agricultural development of the province.
