Santo Domingo.– With the aim of reforming Law 87-01, which creates the Dominican Social Security System, the Bicameral Commission studying the project, heard this Monday a representation of the National Association of Private Clinics and Hospitals (Andeclip), headed by its president, doctor Rafael Mena.
Representative Rafael Castillo, who chairs the Commission, and the vice president, Senator and former Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera, said they will continue to convene different sectors in order to achieve that necessary reform.

The president of Andeclip, Dr. Mena, expressed the need for that modification, pointing out that clinics are the fourth sector in the country that provides the most jobs and most are closing, due to the obstacles that, according to him, the current health system imposes on them.
He pointed out that private health centers offer services to 48 percent of the population and the Health Risk Administrators (ARS), entities authorized to manage the risk of providing the Basic Health Plan, take months to pay doctors for their services.
Among other recommendations, it requests the Bicameral Commission that in the modification to Law 87-01, that entity be included in the National Council of Social Security, since they currently do not have the right to vote.
Meanwhile, the doctor, Severo Mercedes, vice president of Andeclip, proposed that in the country there should be a clinical history or a single file that includes all the actors in the health system, such as service providers, AFPs, and private health centers, among others.
During the meeting, held in the Hugo Tolentino Dipp Hall, the president of the Bicameral Commission, deputy Castillo, maintained that said commission is not oblivious to what is happening in the Dominican health system and said that they will continue to convene entities, in order to achieve the modification of that important Law, which creates the Dominican Social Security System.

It is recalled that last Friday, this same commission held its first public hearing in the Juan Pablo Segundo Hall of the Universidad Católica del Cibao (UCATECI), in La Vega province, where different sectors were heard.
