Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Danilo Medina, criticized this Sunday the tax reform proposed by the Government and assured that it will affect the middle class and the poorest sectors, by making their living conditions even more expensive.
n” “nAccording to Medina, the tax reform would aggravate the population’s difficulties: “What that tax reform does is make people’s lives more expensive and difficult.”
n” “nOn June 11, the Government presented a broad tax reform that includes an increase in income tax, the creation of new taxes and the elimination of others, in order to raise about 850 million dollars annually and thereby face the effects of the international crisis, in addition to boosting the competitiveness of companies.

The “main fiscal consolidation measure” proposed is the increase from 27% to 30% of the income tax (ISR) for large companies, those that reported revenues of more than 1 billion pesos (about 16.6 million dollars) last year, which will be applied for three years, according to the Minister of Finance and Economy, Magín Díaz.
n” “nAccording to Medina, who spoke after an assembly of PLD members and militants held this Sunday in Baní, “the Government does not care about people’s lives.”
