Puerto Plata.- A voracious fire is affecting a shopping plaza this Thursday located on Mella Street, in the vicinity of the municipal market of the Imbert municipality, Puerto Plata province, where several grocery stores and other commercial establishments have been affected, according to preliminary reports.
The incident keeps units from the Imbert Fire Department deployed, as they work uninterruptedly to contain the fire.
However, the intensity of the fire has complicated extinction efforts and increased the risk of it spreading to other commercial premises in the area.
Given the magnitude of the emergency, the authorities requested support from fire departments and relief agencies in nearby municipalities to reinforce operations and prevent the fire from causing further material damage.
So far, authorities have not reported any injuries or fatalities, while efforts to control and assess the damage caused by the fire continue.
The causes that originated the incident have not yet been established and will be determined once the extinguishing efforts conclude and the corresponding investigation begins.
