Santo Domingo.- The Minister of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, Ito Bisonó, launched this Tuesday the Social Housing Construction and Habitat Rehabilitation Project in the Doña Julia sector, an integral intervention that will directly impact the quality of life of the families of this municipality.
During a tour of the community, the minister explained that the project includes the intervention of more than five kilometers of streets, which will be paved and equipped with sidewalks, curbs and speed bumps, improving mobility, road safety and accessibility in the sector. The works also include the construction of drains and filters, as part of a rainwater drainage system designed to prevent flooding and ensure proper water management.
Bisonó pointed out that this initiative is part of the national program for the Construction of Social Housing and Habitat Rehabilitation, and that the works have already begun with activities of scarification of the land for the adaptation of roads, the re-adaptation of the pluvial system and the beginning of repairs and improvements of housing, with an integral approach to urban development.
“This project is not limited to building or repairing homes; it’s about transforming the entire environment in which families live. Streets, drainage, housing, and urban spaces must work together to ensure well-being and dignity,” the minister stated during the event.
The head of MIVHED emphasized that these interventions respond to the Dominican government’s commitment to bring real, sustainable, and socially impactful solutions to communities that have waited for concrete answers in terms of urban infrastructure and decent housing for years.

The activity was attended by the Governorate of the province of Santo Domingo, the mayor of the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, César Rojas, representatives of the Doña Julia neighborhood association, community leaders and pastors from different churches, who accompanied the minister and positively valued the start of the works.
The community members highlighted that this project represents a significant step forward for the integral development of the municipality, by responding to historical needs and laying the foundations for a more orderly and safe urban growth.
With this intervention, the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings continues to advance in its mission to improve urban environments and guarantee safer, more functional and human habitats, placing Dominican communities and families at the center of housing policy.
