Santo Domingo.- Ankelsy Valerio de Jesús, 22 years old, surrendered this Thursday to the Regional Directorate of the National Police in La Vega, after being identified as the alleged perpetrator of the shooting death of her younger sister, Anelsy Ceballos de Jesús, 13 years old, in an incident that occurred on Wednesday night in the Taína sector, in the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province.

During her statements to the authorities, the young woman expressed remorse and assured that she did not shoot her sister, but rather her brother-in-law, whom she accused of repeatedly mistreating the teenager.

“I thought I was going to save my sister from a monster, and the monster ended up being me. But I never shot her, never; him yes,” he stated.

According to reports, she had previous conflicts with her brother-in-law due to alleged episodes of violence against the minor, a situation that, she affirmed, was also commented on by neighbors in the area. She explained that the night of the incident the discussion escalated and that, when trying to shoot the man, her sister intervened by placing herself as a “shield”, without her intending to harm her. Valerio also indicated that the weapon used had been found some time ago in an abandoned house where they resided, and reiterated that he never intended to shoot the teenager.
