Santo Domingo Este.– Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos, alias “Chiquito”, shook his head when members of the press asked him if he is accused of being responsible for the death of Zeneida Socorro Castillo, wife of the merengue artist Julián Oro Duro.
The gesture occurred this Friday while “Chiquito” and the others involved in the case were being transported to courtroom 10 of the Santo Domingo Este Judicial City, where the request for a coercive measure presented by the Public Ministry will be heard.

When asked by journalists if he was identified as the murderer of Zeneida Castillo, Liranzo Marcos responded only by shaking his head in denial, without offering any verbal statements.
The 18-year-old young man was arrested last Wednesday by the National Police, becoming the fourth person identified by the authorities in connection with the incident that occurred at the residence of Julián Oro Duro, located in Brisa Oriental VI, Santo Domingo East.

Also detained in this case are Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, Juan Carlos Hernández García, alias “Peña”, and Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, alias “Yandel”. The latter had previously surrendered to the authorities.
According to preliminary investigations by the National Police, two of the suspects maintained professional or trust-based ties with the artist and his family circle. Authorities maintain that this relationship likely facilitated access to the home where the crime occurred.
The Police have identified Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez as a person who had a close relationship with Julián Oro Duro, due to work he had performed on the artist’s properties. According to the authorities, he also accompanied him in some artistic activities and ran errands for the household.

The investigations preliminarily establish that Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso and Juan Carlos Hernández García were allegedly contacted by Tejeda Vásquez to participate in the act. However, the Public Prosecutor’s Office must present to the court the evidence that supports its accusations and establish the individual responsibility of each one.
One of the aspects revealed by the investigation is that Zeneida Socorro Castillo had prepared food and juices for the people who were at the residence before the crime occurred. The Police indicated that the woman was killed by blows and wounds caused by a bladed weapon.
Zeneida Castillo, 60, died inside the home, while Julián Oro Duro was injured when he returned to the house and had to be taken to a medical center for treatment.
With the arrest of “Chiquito”, the authorities managed to take into custody the four individuals identified so far in the investigation. The National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have indicated that they continue to collect evidence to establish precisely how the events occurred and what the participation of each one was.
This Friday, attention is focused on the coercion measure hearing, in which the Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested 18 months of preventive detention for the four defendants and that the case be declared complex.
The decision will be in the hands of the court, which must evaluate the arguments of the parties and the elements presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the defense before determining the corresponding measures.

As the transfer to the courtroom progressed, “Chiquito’s” brief reaction was the only response offered to the journalists. His gestural refusal occurred hours before the court formally hears the request for coercion within a case that has generated great public attention due to the death of Zeneida Castillo and the injuries suffered by Julián Oro Duro.
