Santo Domingo.- The trial against Antonio and Maribel Espaillat for the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub, a tragedy in which 236 people died and dozens were injured, was adjourned this Friday until next October 2nd.
The court ordered a pause in the proceedings and set the continuation of the hearing for that date, in which there are still several stages pending to be developed within the trial related to the tragedy that occurred at the nightclub.

During this Friday’s session, one of the most emotional moments was led by witness Gregory Adames, who broke down in tears while recalling the consequences of the Jet Set structure collapse and the loss of friends and colleagues.
Visibly affected by his memories, Adames stated before the court that what happened changed his life completely. He also explained that he has had difficulties speaking publicly about what he knows of the case and about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The witness also referred to the relationship he maintained with the siblings Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, who are facing the judicial process related to the collapse of Jet Set.
Adames assured that he never had anything against the Espaillat brothers and maintained that his statements before the authorities and the court were not due to a personal conflict with the accused.
As he explained, he decided to speak about the events because he considered it was the right thing to do after the tragedy that affected numerous families.

Adames’ testimony came as the court continues to hear from individuals linked to different aspects of the Jet Set case, in a process that has required several days due to the number of testimonies and elements that must be examined.
At another point in the hearing, one of the defense attorneys questioned a witness about the personal relationship they maintained with the Espaillat brothers.
The jurist asked him how he described his relationship with Antonio and Maribel, to which the witness replied that it was “excellent”.
Subsequently, the lawyer asked a question regarding the possibility that a person might lie in favor of someone with whom they have a close relationship.
“Do you consider that a person who has an excellent relationship with another can lie in their favor?”, asked the jurist.
The question was objected to during the hearing. Upon the objection, the magistrate requested that the attorney rephrase the question, considering that the manner in which it had been posed corresponded to an aspect typical of direct examination.

The exchange took place as the parties continue to present their arguments and examine the testimonies related to the Jet Set case, whose collapse caused one of the most serious tragedies recorded recently in the country.
The Jet Set tragedy left a high number of victims and generated demands from relatives who hope that the judicial process will allow for the corresponding responsibilities to be established.
The court will continue with the trial proceedings on October 2nd, the date on which the parties must return to follow up on the pending actions.
Meanwhile, the process for Jet Set remains in the merits trial stage, in which the judges must evaluate the testimonies, documents, and other elements presented by the prosecution and the defense.
The continuation of the hearing will allow for progress in the different phases of the judicial process related to Jet Set, while relatives of the victims and other people linked to the case remain attentive to the development of the proceedings.
The Jet Set trial will therefore continue on October 2nd, when the court resumes the pending presentations and testimonies.
