A statement from the Public Ministry indicated that the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against the Illicit Trafficking of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons (PETT) and the Prosecutor’s Office of Pedernales initiated a criminal investigation jointly with the Directorate of Investigations against Trafficking and Trafficking in Persons of the National Police after receiving the complaint of the case last June. The prosecuting body indicated that the accused sometimes resorted to deception, taking advantage in any case of the victims’ conditions of vulnerability and the state of minority, determined by their age, all this for the purpose of obtaining an economic benefit.
