Monte Plata.- More than 1,000 families in the Don Juan municipal district, in the Monte Plata province, will benefit from property titles as part of a new titling process executed by the Technical Executing Unit for State Land Titling (UTECT).
The executive director of the UTECT, Duarte Méndez Peña, reported that this is the seventh titling day held in the province, where the program is advancing in different municipalities and municipal districts.
Méndez Peña highlighted that the initiative, promoted by President Luis Abinader, seeks to guarantee legal security to families who for decades have occupied land without having a document that accredits them as definitive owners.
“It is necessary that all people can obtain that document that accredits them as the definitive owners of a space they have occupied for so many decades,” the official expressed.
For her part, the governor of Monte Plata, Rafaela Javier Gomera, stated that the process directly benefits the municipality’s residents, especially those living in Don Juan, by guaranteeing them a real right over their homes and properties.

Deputy Román de Jesús valued the titling program and thanked President Luis Abinader and the UTECT for bringing the process to the municipalities of the province.

Likewise, he highlighted that a properly titled property can increase its value and provide families with greater negotiation possibilities and access to the financial system.
Meanwhile, the director of the Presidential Commission for the Support of Provincial Development for the Eastern Region, Anderson de los Santos, described the start of the titling process as a transcendental event for Don Juan, recalling that since 2021 they had been requesting the regularization of the lands occupied by families in the community from the authorities.
De los Santos considered that the titling will contribute to avoiding conflicts related to land ownership and requested that the program continue to be extended to other communities in Monte Plata.
Meanwhile, the district director of Don Juan, Leoncito José, maintained that the delivery of titles represents peace of mind and legal security for citizens who for years and decades have occupied land without having a document that legally certifies their ownership.
The authorities highlighted that the titling process will continue in different municipalities and districts of Monte Plata, with the purpose of formalizing the property of hundreds of families in the province.
