Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported this Saturday the capture of Jorge Alberto Ozuna Marte, alias Gungun, identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of the shooting on December 11, 2025, in the Villa Duarte sector, an event in which a 10-year-old child and a woman died, and another female was injured.
The detainee, 41 years old, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the death of the child Josué Rodne, 10 years old, and María Mercedes Arias Amador, 63, as well as for the gunshot wounds inflicted on Marie Benítez Rodne, 47 years old.

Subsequently, the institution added in a note, a 9 mm caliber pistol was seized, which, after analysis by the Forensic Ballistics Division, showed ballistic coincidence with one of the shell casings collected at the crime scene, strengthening the accusatory file. The event occurred on the night of December 11, 2025, when several armed individuals aboard a black jeep dismounted and fired multiple shots at a group of citizens who were in the vicinity of an ice cream parlor, in circumstances still under investigation. As a result of the attack, the child Josué Rodne died from a gunshot wound to the head, while María Mercedes Arias Amador died days later, on December 14, while receiving care at the Dr. Darío Contreras Trauma Hospital. Meanwhile, Marie Benítez Rodne survived after being wounded in the leg.
