Professor accused of alleged abuse of young woman with Down syndrome in Las Yayas

Santo Domingo.- Residents of the Las Yayas community denounced a teacher identified as David García Cepeda, whom they accuse as the alleged responsible for impregnating a young woman with Down syndrome. For reasons of dignity and respect, the name of the affected person is omitted. According to neighbors’ accounts, the accused allegedly took advantage of the young woman’s vulnerability to take her to his residence, where he supposedly committed the abuse.

The situation has generated deep indignation in the community, which demands a thorough investigation by the competent authorities to clarify the event and guarantee justice. Family and friends lamented that the young woman belongs to a low-income household, where several of her siblings also have the same health condition and, in addition, face the difficult reality of orphanhood.
