Santo Domingo.- The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District imposed this Friday three months of preventive detention on Manuel Alejandro Féliz Rodríguez, accused of stealing two gold rings, with high historical value, from the headquarters of the Instituto Duartiano.

The defendant requested a tour from the secretary of the Instituto Duartiano and, while pretending to wait, entered the exhibition hall, from where he stole two rings: one with the face of the hero Juan Pablo Duarte, and another with a ruby stone, a gift from Duarte to his fiancée Prudencia Lluberes Álvarez, both pieces with great historical value for the country, according to the accusation of the Public Ministry. During the investigations, on August 9, members of the C4 Investigation Procedure Division, San Carlos sector, identified a man who had difficulty walking and matched the images captured during the robbery. Later, he was seen moving along Isabel La Católica Avenue. The suspect identified himself as Manuel Alejandro Félix Rodríguez (El Cojo) and admitted to having stolen the rings. On August 11, 2025, Félix Rodríguez was arrested under the order issued by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District. Féliz Rodríguez will serve preventive prison in the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR-XX) Najayo Hombres.
