Santo Domingo.– Zulinka Yadhira Pérez, daughter of merengue singer Rubby Pérez, issued a message this Thursday to clarify the controversy that arose after a check for RD$1 million was made public, supposedly delivered as “compensation” after the collapse of the Jet Set disco on April 8th.
The young woman stated that she received the check as a member of her father’s orchestra, along with her husband Miguel Báez, and not because she was the daughter of the deceased merengue singer.
“To be clear… that’s compensation as a member of the orchestra, not as Ruby Pérez’s daughter”
Zulinka explained that the payment was intended to cover medical, personal expenses and any damage suffered as a result of the collapse, in which 236 people lost their lives, including her father, and more than 180 people were injured.
The artist added that she remained silent for a while, confident that the matter would be resolved with maturity and respect. However, she chose to speak publicly due to the misinformation that circulated in the media about the origin and purpose of the money received. Finally, she emphasized that her wish is for everything to be handled with transparency, legality, and respect, and she thanked for the support received during this difficult process.
