Montevideo .- The disapproval of the Government led by Yamandú Orsi in Uruguay rose in the third quarter of the year to 57% and approval fell to 19%, according to a survey presented this Wednesday by the consulting firm Opción.
Regarding the question of how interviewees evaluate the administration’s management, 30% said it is very bad, 27% that it is bad, 24% that it is neither good nor bad, 16% that it is good, and 3% that it is very good.
The growth of negative perception towards Orsi
In the second quarter of the year and faced with a similar survey, 22% of Uruguayans had indicated that the management was very bad, while 26% pointed out that it was bad, 24% that it was neither good nor bad, 16% that it was good, and 4% that it was very good.
“There is a significant increase in negative judgments about the Government, at the expense of a decrease in neutral judgments. While in the previous quarter disapproval reached 48%, current records reach 57%. Conversely, the neutral evaluation (including those who did not answer the question) fell from 32% to 24%,” explained the consultancy.
In accordance with this, he pointed out: «In terms of evaluative balances, this means that the Government deepened its predominantly negative image among Uruguayans, going from a balance of -28 to one of -38».

The historical series of management evaluation of the current government cycle shows, quarter after quarter, an increase in disapproval and, in most measurements, a drop in approval, with the former phenomenon being more significant than the latter», he pointed out.
Results compared to the start of his term
He added that in the “point-to-point” comparison, the disapproval is currently 38 points higher than what the Government had in its early days of administration (second quarter of 2025) and the approval is 11 points lower.

On the other hand, the president’s administration was approved by 22% of Uruguayans and disapproved by 50%, while the remaining 28% neither approve nor disapprove.
The document presented by Opción presented the results of a nationwide telephone survey conducted with 806 respondents and carried out in two periods: from July 16 to 20 and from August 6 to 11.
“In the case of the proportions of the variables of interest in this report, the maximum margin of error is ±3.5% for a 95% confidence level and is calculated taking into account the sample design and the weighting methodology implemented,” he concluded.
