The night of yesterday, June 9, seemed to be passing normally on the outskirts of the city of Masaya. However, behind the walls of the “Momentos Diferentes” Auto Hotel, located just 70 meters north of the El Coyotepe roundabout, a tragedy was unfolding that today mourns a Nicaraguan family and leaves a child orphaned.
María Celeste Meza Valle, 30 years old, entered that place without knowing it would be the scene of her final minutes of life, allegedly at the hands of her spouse, Walter Ramón Martínez Trujillo, of the same age.
The clock struck approximately 08:30 at night when the couple arrived at the establishment aboard a white Toyota Yaris taxi, license plate M 12-654. No one at the motel suspected that, beneath the apparent tranquility of the clients, a history of personal and economic conflicts was hidden, which was about to explode in the worst possible way.

Minutes after the couple settled into the room, the atmosphere of the place changed drastically. Workers and witnesses at the motel were alerted upon hearing heartbreaking screams for help coming from the room. Protective instinct led the establishment’s staff to immediately go and check what was happening, but the scene they found upon opening the door was devastating.
María Celeste lay gravely wounded inside the room’s bathroom, bloodied and fighting for her life. While the staff tried to process the horror of the scene, the alleged attacker, Walter Ramón Martínez Trujillo, had already begun a hasty escape.
With the adrenaline of the crime and the desperation to evade justice, Martínez got into the Toyota Yaris taxi and accelerated fully. In his violent escape, he crashed heavily into a part of the motel’s main gate, destroying the structure before merging onto the highway at full speed.
The employees, in the midst of the crisis, urgently called the police authorities and emergency services in the hope of saving the young mother. However, the damage was already done; upon arriving at the scene, the paramedics could only confirm that the victim no longer showed vital signs.

The response from the National Police of the Masaya department was immediate. After receiving the report and confirming the severity of the femicide, operational units and special criminal investigation teams were urgently activated. The order was clear: to close the exit routes of the department through an intense “Lockdown Plan” to prevent the suspect from managing to take refuge in another area of the country.
The first trace of the suspect appeared a few hours after the crime. The officers located the Toyota Yaris taxi abandoned on the side of the road that connects Tipitapa with Masaya, exactly five kilometers away from the auto hotel. The vehicle showed visible damage from the collision with the gate, but Martinez Trujillo was no longer inside; he had continued his escape on foot or by seeking another means of transport under the cover of night.
Despite his efforts to hide, the police deployment did not cease. During the early hours of the morning, the search teams managed to locate the whereabouts of Walter Ramón Martínez Trujillo. The suspect was immediately captured and transported under a heavy security detail to the preventive cells of the Masaya police station, where he remains under strict custody.
