Paris.- Two children, aged 2 and 4, died this Monday in the French city of Carpentras (southeast) inside their mother’s car, which was parked in a parking lot, apparently trapped inside during a heatwave.
The newspaper La Provence explained that the police were alerted at 1:10 p.m. local time (11:10 GMT), and although firefighters arrived to try to resuscitate them, nothing could be done to save their lives.
Speaking to the media, the Carpentras prosecutor indicated that, although the causes of death are still to be determined, the heatwave currently affecting France is being prioritized as the main lead.

According to La Provence, the children were trapped in the vehicle, although it is not known how they got in or how long they remained inside.
Based on initial statements, they may have entered the car without their 33-year-old mother noticing.

The heat is particularly extreme in the west and in the interior of the country, where meteorological services anticipate that thermometers this afternoon will rise to 43 degrees in Bordeaux, 42 in Nantes, 41 in Rennes and 40 in Paris, Toulouse, Limoges, Bourges or Tarbes.
