The name of Heber Argueta went from moving in silence within intelligence reports to becoming one of the most wanted in Honduras after the failed operation in Corinto, Omoa, where five agents of the DIPAMPCO were killed during an ambush attributed to drug trafficking structures.
Honduran authorities maintain that Argueta would be a criminal operator with alleged links to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of the most violent and powerful criminal organizations in Latin America.
His name began to be heard with force after the Secretariat of Security confirmed that the operation carried out in Corinto had as its main objective to locate and capture him.However, the mission ended in tragedy and raised new alarms about the presence of transnational criminal networks in Honduras.

The operation in Corinth aimed to capture Argueta in an area where he allegedly maintained operations and armed protection. However, something went wrong during the mission. The five DIPAMPCO agents disappeared after entering the house and hours later were found dead in a mountainous area of Omoa.
