Monaco.– Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli once again demonstrated his great form in the 2026 Formula 1 season by winning the Monaco Grand Prix this Sunday, consolidating his position as the absolute leader of the world championship after securing his fifth consecutive victory.
The young Mercedes driver, just 19 years old, prevailed in a race marked by multiple incidents, safety cars, and a red flag in the final stretch, thus securing his fifth victory in the top category of motorsport.
The British driver Lewis Hamilton, from Ferrari, finished in second position, while the Frenchman Isack Hadjar, from Red Bull, completed the podium at the historic Monte Carlo street circuit.
The competition had a dramatic outcome following a restart from the grid with eight laps to go, a situation that Antonelli handled with authority to extend his lead in the overall championship standings.
With this result, the Italian accumulates 156 points and leads Hamilton by 66 units, who climbed to second place in the championship after surpassing George Russell.
For his part, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso managed to score his first point of the season after the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez received a ten-second penalty for infringing the restart procedure. The Aston Martin driver had finished eleventh, but moved up to tenth place after the sanction.
Alonso staged a remarkable comeback after starting from 21st position, finally managing to open his points tally in a difficult season for Aston Martin.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz retired from the race after suffering an accident without physical consequences, while the Argentine Franco Colapinto finished in fourteenth position with Alpine.
Formula 1 will continue next weekend with the Catalunya Grand Prix, at the Montmeló circuit, where Antonelli will look to maintain his impressive winning streak.
