Eagles remain untouchable: they achieve their 21st victory by dominating the Giants 6-1

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Águilas Cibaeñas once again demonstrated why they are the most dominant team of the 2025-26 tournament, by defeating the Gigantes del Cibao 6-1 this Monday at the Julián Javier Stadium, thus achieving their 21st victory in their first 25 games of the season.

With this triumph, the Cibao team remains the only team above .500, consolidating its impressive record of 21-4, the best start for the franchise in more than a decade.

Tavárez shines from the mound

Right-handed pitcher Jorge Tavárez earned his first victory of the championship after pitching five solid innings, in which he allowed only one run, three hits, gave two walks and struck out five. His only blemish came in the form of a solo home run hit by Deyvison de los Santos, preventing the shutout for the home team. In their previous matchup against the Giants, the Eagles had secured a 2-0 victory. This time they repeated the dominance in both pitching and offense.

Early attack made the difference

The Eagles came out aggressive from the first inning. Steward Berroa and Leody Taveras opened with consecutive singles, setting the stage for a double by Aderlin Rodríguez that put the game 2-0. Shortly after, Adael Amador added another run with a hit to center field to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the second inning, the Cibao team came back strong. Ángel Genao received a walk, Berroa sacrificed, Taveras got on base again, and a solid hit by Ezequiel Durán produced the fourth run. After the second out, José Rodríguez hit a single to center to make the score 5-0. The sixth and last race came in the sixth episode, when Berroa and Taveras once again got on base and Durán drove in his second run of the game with another hit to center field.
