Santo Domingo.– Dominicans were once again protagonists this Sunday in Major League Baseball, with Ketel Marte reaching an important power milestone, Otto López remaining among the best hitters in the National League, and several Dominican relief pitchers securing victories.

Marte hit his 20th home run of the season in the first inning of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dominican second baseman finished the game 4-for-1, with one run scored and two RBIs, and extended his streak of seasons with at least 20 home runs to four consecutive years.

Marte hit 26 home runs in 2023, 23 in 2024, and set his most recent record with 28 homers in 2025. His best single-season home run production was 32, achieved in 2019.

For the Dodgers, Dominican Teoscar Hernández went 0-for-3, while Geraldo Perdomo batted 1-for-3 and drew a walk for Arizona.

Otto López continues among the best hitters

In Miami, Otto López hit an RBI single in the first inning to break the tie and help the Marlins defeat the Los Angeles Angels 12-3.

López finished 2-for-5, scored two runs, and raised his batting average to .318, a figure that places him in second place in the National League and third in all of Major League Baseball, keeping him firmly in the race for the batting title.

Starling Marte also hits a home run

In the Kansas City Royals’ 10-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs, Starling Marte hit his second home run of the season.

The Dominican outfielder finished 4-for-1 and drove in two runs for Kansas City.

Dominican relief pitchers secure victories

Dominican pitchers also had an outstanding day.

Elvis Alvarado (4-3) worked the eighth inning without allowing any runs and struck out one batter to earn the win in the Oakland Athletics’ 4-3 victory over Boston.

For his part, George Soriano earned the win in the St. Louis Cardinals’ 7-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The reliever pitched the entire eighth inning, although he allowed two hits and one earned run.

In Baltimore, the Orioles defeated the Texas Rangers 10-5. Dominican Leody Taveras went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while reliever Yaramil Hiraldo earned his first win of the season after pitching two innings, allowing one hit and issuing one walk.

José Ramírez contributes in Cleveland’s defeat

In another matchup, José Ramírez went 3-for-2 and drove in a run in the first inning to put Cleveland ahead, although the Guardians ended up falling 5-3 to the Chicago White Sox.

The day once again featured a significant Dominican presence in Major League Baseball, led by the power of Ketel Marte and the offensive consistency of Otto López, who continues to be at the top of the batting title race.
