SANTO DOMINGO ESTE. With a completely full Bello Campo stadium and an atmosphere of enthusiasm among players and fans, the Softball Association of the Santo Domingo Province (ASOPROSADO) inaugurated the XXI Chata Tournament 2026, an event that brings together 55 teams and more than 1,000 athletes in the Chata C, Chata B, and Master categories.
This year’s edition is dedicated to Antonio Feliz Feliz, president of the Municipal Council of Aldermen of the Santo Domingo Este City Council, while the Champion’s Cup for the Chata C category honors the memory of the prominent sports leader José Antonio Morel, for his invaluable contribution to the development of softball in the province.
During the opening ceremony, the president of ASOPROSADO, Alison Díaz, highlighted the great reception of the tournament and assured that this will be one of the best editions in history.
“The adrenaline is flowing, the spiciest tournament in the province has arrived in its twenty-first edition. The teams are ready to compete and put on a great show. We invite the whole family to enjoy an organized, safe event with a healthy atmosphere,” expressed Díaz.
For her part, councilwoman and ASOPROSADO goodwill ambassador, Aileen Decamps, highlighted the importance of the event as a space for community integration and valued the recognition given to the late leader José Antonio Morel.
“It is an honor to accompany this traditional tournament once again and to recognize those who dedicated their lives to the growth of softball in Santo Domingo Este. Seeing families gathered enjoying this sport is a source of pride,” he stated.
Cabirma B opens with a win
In the opening match, the reigning champion Cabirma B began the defense of its crown with a 12-10 victory over Canta La Rana Team, in a game loaded with offensive power.

Pitcher Roberto Steven was credited with the win, Pedro Rosario took the loss, and Onécimo Mateo earned the save.
On the offensive for Cabirma B, Luis Hurtado shone, batting 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs; Luis Reyes went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs; while Israel Báez and Wilmil Adames also hit home runs and drove in two runs each.
For Canta La Rana Team, Michael Reynoso stood out with two home runs, in addition to the outstanding performances of Anderson de la Cruz, Raylin Acevedo, and Agusto Cruz.

ASOPROSADO reported that the tournament will continue with matches in the different categories during Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for next weekend.
