BARCELONA, Spain.— FC Barcelona will return to operating under LaLiga’s 1:1 financial fair play rule, which will allow them to approach the transfer market with greater normality after several years of economic restrictions.

Club sources confirmed that the blue and garnet entity already meets the requirements established by LaLiga, although the organization and Barcelona itself have not yet made an official announcement.
The recovery of this condition means that the club will be able to invest in its squad the same amount of money it generates through revenue, player sales, or salary mass reduction, a situation it had not enjoyed since the 2019-2020 season.
Barcelona has managed to achieve this goal thanks to an economic containment policy that included the reduction of its wage bill, with operations such as the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ansu Fati, in addition to the renewal with a salary reduction of defender Andreas Christensen. Added to this is the increase in commercial revenue, driven by new sponsorship agreements and the team’s return to the Spotify Camp Nou.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas acknowledged this Thursday that the Catalan club appears to comply with the 1:1 rule, although he noted that it is up to Barcelona itself to know its financial situation exactly.
Likewise, he recalled that the cost of a signing is not accounted for entirely in a single season, but is amortized over the duration of the footballer’s contract.

For his part, Barcelona president Joan Laporta assured during his inauguration that the club is “in a position to undertake any operation as long as it falls within economic logic.”
The new financial situation will facilitate the work of the sporting management headed by Deco, whose main objective for this market is to reinforce the forward line following the departure of Robert Lewandowski. Among the options the club is considering is the Argentine striker Julián Álvarez as one of the main candidates to strengthen the Blaugrana attack.
