LONDON.– Brooklyn Beckham publicly stated that he has no intention of reconciling with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, whom he accused of exerting excessive control over his life and prioritizing the interests of the family brand over personal relationships.

In a lengthy message posted on his Instagram account, the 26-year-old rejected the version that his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, negatively influences his decisions, assuring that this narrative “is completely inverted.”

“I’ve been controlled by my parents for most of my life. Today I’m not being controlled, I’m defending myself for the first time,” he wrote.

Beckham stated that he has lived with constant anxiety since he was young and that it has decreased after distancing himself from his family environment and consolidating his life with Peltz, whom he married in 2022. He also revealed that he has not been in contact with his parents or siblings for approximately a year.

Tensions from the wedding

Among his most delicate remarks, Brooklyn assured that his mother, Victoria Beckham, starred in an uncomfortable episode during his wedding reception in Miami, when she interrupted the first dance planned with his wife to dance with him in front of the guests. According to reports, the situation occurred when singer Marc Anthony, a close friend of the family, called him to the stage for what was supposed to be the newlyweds’ dance, but his mother appeared to take that moment.

“I had never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated,” he stated.

The episode, as explained, motivated the couple to perform a vow renewal, with the aim of creating new positive memories associated with their union.

Accusations of Interference and Legal Pressure

Brooklyn also claimed that his parents tried to interfere in their relationship even before the marriage. Among his statements, he pointed out that Victoria Beckham canceled Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to urgently look for another option. He also assured that weeks before the wedding he was pressured to give up the rights to his name, which, he said, would have implications for his wife and future children.

“They wanted me to sign before I got married. My refusal affected economic interests and since then the relationship was never the same,” she indicated.

Definitive Distancing

Brooklyn affirmed that both he and his wife have been the subject of media attacks since he decided to distance himself from his family, and assured that his brothers Romeo and Cruz Beckham blocked him on social media last summer. He also reported that, despite the differences, they traveled to London for his father’s 50th birthday, but remained for a week without being received, and that any meeting was conditioned on the exclusion of his wife.

“It was a slap in the face,” she noted.

The young man, who now uses the name “Brooklyn Peltz Beckham” and seeks to consolidate his career as a photographer and chef, stated that his family prioritizes public image, promotions, and media exposure above emotional bonds.

Pending Answer

Brooklyn explained that he decided to make these statements public after versions attributed to his family repeatedly circulated in the press. So far, David and Victoria Beckham have not offered official statements about the conflict.
