Abinader announces construction of basketball arena in Tamboril

Puerto Plata. – President Luis Abinader announced the construction of an arena for basketball practice in the municipality of Tamboril, Santiago province, in an alliance between the Government and Dominican-American basketball player Karl-Anthony Towns Cruz.

The ruler pointed out that the infrastructure will be a space with all the conditions for the youth of the locality and nearby communities to practice the sport in the best way and receive an education in values through the GO Ministries organization.

He indicated that the building will be “a true arena”, which will have all the facilities for the realization of tournaments and other activities for the benefit of young people.

He highlighted that, with this type of project executed between the Government, society, and people like the Dominican NBA player, success is ensured for the benefited community and for the entire region.

President Abinader thanked Towns Cruz for his sense of Dominican identity and his love for the country, noting that his actions and achievements make his compatriots feel proud.

For his part, the New York Knicks player, after thanking the president for the meeting, stated that this is a very important moment for the Dominican Republic, an act of unity that fills him with pride.

The basketball player also thanked God for the opportunity to demonstrate his love for the country and for allowing him to live his dream of being Dominican and helping his compatriots.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, and the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; the president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), Rafael Uribe, and representatives of the Christian organization GO Ministries.
