Santo Domingo.– Visibly moved after winning the gold medal, sports leader Cristóbal Marte expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the Queens of the Caribbean and assured that the result is a response to the planning and sustained effort of the Dominican team.
“Everything is as planned”, stated Marte to the journalists, after the Dominican women’s volleyball team prevailed in the Central American and Caribbean Games competition against the team from Colombia.
Marte highlighted the team’s ability to manage their efforts and elevate their performance in decisive moments. “High load, low performance. Low load, high performance. And that was what you saw there,” he explained.
The leader highlighted the strength shown by the players during the match, which began in a tight manner before the Dominican Republic took control of the scoreboard. “At the beginning this game was close, but then it gained strength. Because that’s how the queens are: they let go to then pull hard,” he commented.
Next challenge: Olympic qualification
Marte announced that the Dominican team will have little time to celebrate, as starting on the 19th they will compete in the qualifying championship for the Olympic Games.

Several of the same teams that faced each other in the Central American and Caribbean Games will participate in this new competition. As explained, Colombia and Venezuela will leave the competition and will be replaced by Canada and the United States. “These are the same teams. Colombia and Venezuela are out, and Canada and the United States are in,” he noted.

During the meeting with the press, Marte was also questioned about the financial reward that the team members will receive for winning the medal.

The leader confirmed that he will deliver 3.2 million pesos, an amount that, as he explained, will be matched by the Dominican Government.
In addition, he indicated that the players will receive an individual incentive of 250 thousand pesos each.
