Authorities burn more than 616 kilos of different types of drugs

Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), a dependency of the Attorney General’s Office, used fire to destroy 616 kilograms, 941 grams, and 785 milligrams of cocaine, marijuana, ecgonine, crack, ecstasy, heroin, hashish, and methamphetamine, seized so far this year. The substances, previously analyzed in the laboratories of the Inacif, included 421 kilograms, 202 grams, and 428 milligrams of cocaine; 118 kilograms, 158 grams, and 254 milligrams of marijuana; 71 kilograms, 213 grams, and 241 milligrams of ecgonine; 6 kilograms, 184 grams, and 627 milligrams of crack; 138 grams and 703 milligrams of ecstasy; 22 grams and 17 milligrams of heroin; 11 grams and 650 milligrams of hashish, as well as 10 grams and 703 milligrams of methamphetamine.

In addition, 39 kilograms, 536 grams, and 383 milligrams of uncontrolled substances that tested negative after being analyzed by the Inacif laboratories were also destroyed, the Attorney General’s Office said in a note this Thursday. The provinces where the largest amount of substances were seized, with weight in grams and milligrams, were, Santo Domingo, with 359,094; La Vega with 51,474; San Juan with 38,121; Duarte with 27,853; Peravia with 25,378; Distrito Nacional, 15,843; María Trinidad Sánchez, 13,607; San Cristóbal, 12,845; Espaillat, 11,897; San Pedro de Macorís, 10,627 and La Altagracia, 10,192. The seizure operations also covered the provinces of Santiago, 6,904; Valverde, 4,474; Barahona, 4,278; Samaná, 3,684; Puerto Plata, 3,248; Monseñor Nouel, 3,235; Dajabón, 3,035 and Bahoruco, 2,644. Similarly, seizures were carried out in the provinces of Hato Mayor, Sánchez Ramírez, Monte Cristi, Hermanas Mirabal, San José de Ocoa, Monte Plata, Santiago Rodríguez, El Seibo, Pedernales, Azua and La Romana. The burning took place at the 1st Infantry Brigade of the Dominican Republic Army, located at kilometer 25 of the Duarte highway, in the presence of members of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the National Drug Council, and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, complying with the provisions of Law No. 50-88, on Drugs and Controlled Substances of the Dominican Republic.
