Santo Domingo.– Veteran Dominican playwright Giovanny Cruz Durán expressed his disagreement with the practice of holding funeral honors for artists and cultural figures at the Eduardo Brito National Theater facilities, considering that this venue was not conceived for such purposes.
n” “nThrough a public letter, Cruz Durán raised questions about the use of the country’s main cultural venue to bid farewell to deceased personalities.
n” “n“Is the National Theater the appropriate place to hold a wake for the deceased?”, the playwright questioned, only to then answer categorically: “Definitely not”.
The cultural manager also maintained that funeral homes and chapels are the appropriate spaces for family, friends, and acquaintances to bid a final farewell to their loved ones, regardless of the public relevance they may have achieved in life.
