Great-grandfather of boy found dead in Hato Damas says more than 1 young person involved in the incident

Hato Damas, San Cristóbal.- Ciprián Pineda, great-grandfather of the child Raudier Steben Martínez Corporán, 10 years old, demanded this Friday justice for the death of the minor and asked that the case be taken “to the ultimate consequences”, indicating that more than 1 young person is involved. Amidst the pain that engulfs the family while they await the delivery of the body to mourn it at their residence in Hato Damas, San Cristóbal province, the man demanded that the authorities deepen the investigations and determine if there are more people involved in the crime. “The one who is imprisoned has to say who he was with, because he killed an innocent child of just 10 years old. What we want is justice and that the maximum penalty be imposed”, he expressed.

Pineda also questioned whether the investigated teenager should be treated as a minor, alleging that he had previously been detained for robbery. “That is in the hands of justice. Justice has to do its job, because the one who is imprisoned has to say how many were those who killed that child”, he stated. He also described with indignation the conditions in which the minor’s body was found, assuring that the event has caused shock and consternation throughout the community. The National Police reported that it is investigating a 14-year-old teenager, who was allegedly the last person seen with the child before his disappearance. The case is being handled by the competent authorities of the jurisdiction of children and adolescents. Raudier Steben Martínez had been reported missing since Wednesday afternoon and was found dead on Thursday in the Reja stream, in Hato Damas.
