Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) announced that operating drones without authorization will not be permitted at the facilities where the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 are being held, as part of the security plan designed to ensure the normal development of the event.
The general director of the IDAC, Igor Rodríguez Durán, recalled that the use of unmanned aircraft is regulated by the Dominican Aeronautical Regulation (RAD 107), and therefore urged operators to comply with the established rules.
The institution explained that the restriction is in response to a request from the Games Organizing Committee and aims to avoid situations that could compromise the safety of the athletes, the delegations, the attending public, and air operations.
The provision applies to all official competition venues, including the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, Parque del Este, as well as the sports facilities located in Greater Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Baní, San Cristóbal, Bonao, Santiago, Puerto Plata, and Punta Cana.
The agency specified that any drone operation within these zones must have prior authorization from the IDAC and be carried out in coordination with the authorities in charge of the event’s security detail.

The IDAC warned that those who fail to comply with this provision are subject to sanctions contemplated in the current aeronautical regulations, in addition to other administrative measures that may apply.
Finally, the entity called on operators and the public to respect the established restrictions and use drones only when they have the required permits, with the purpose of contributing to the safe celebration of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
