Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) announced the results of the special vehicle inspection operation carried out within the framework of the commemoration of the Restoration of the Republic 2025, where more than 8,000 vehicles were verified at different points throughout the national territory.
A total of 8,193 units were inspected, of which 137 were retained, exceeding the initial goal of 7,000, with the aim of ensuring that they met the basic road safety requirements.
Vehicle inspections revealed various irregularities in the condition of the vehicles, with the most frequent being 973 broken or missing windows, 968 damaged or broken lights, and 687 tires in poor condition.
The absence of basic safety elements such as 191 bumpers, 181 first aid kits, 170 fire extinguishers, and 163 safety triangles was also detected.
The National District topped the list of provinces with the most irregularities, recording 1,341 cases, followed by Azua with 565 and San Juan with 310, which highlights the need to reinforce the vehicle maintenance culture in those demarcations.

In addition, between August 12 and 14, 85 doping tests were administered to drivers from different intercity transport companies in Santo Domingo, Higüey and San Juan de la Maguana, all with negative results and without observations.
In addition, the medical evaluations carried out during the day identified a case of diabetes and three cases of hypertension, which were referred for follow-up.

The Intrant reiterated that each inspection represents a key preventive measure to save lives and highlighted that this type of operation directly contributes to the reduction of traffic accident risks throughout the country.
