José Antonio Kast speaks with Daniel Noboa about the creation of a corridor for the return of Venezuelan migrants

Guayaquil.- The elected president of Chile, the far-right José Antonio Kast, assured this Tuesday that he spoke with the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, about his proposal to create a “humanitarian corridor” that allows Venezuelan migrants in their countries to return to Venezuela, something he had already proposed last week in Buenos Aires, when he met with the Argentine president Javier Milei. “What we have proposed on this tour is to see how a humanitarian corridor can be established so that people who are in an irregular situation in Chile, Peru, and Ecuador can return to their homeland and also to ask the Venezuelan Government to open the doors of its border so that those people who want to return can do so,” said Kast in a press conference in a hotel in the capital.

Although he did not specify what the Ecuadorian president had answered him, Kast assured that everyone was “aware of the problem” and that they had “the same feeling caused by a ruler who is illegitimate in Venezuela”, referring to President Nicolás Maduro.

Conversations to find a solution for Venezuelan migrants

Kast also pointed out that he hoped that the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, “understands the humanitarian crisis that is being experienced” and appealed to him to “intercede in the face of what is happening today in Venezuela”. Regarding the military operations that the United States is carrying out in the Caribbean, Kast said that Chile should not comment on what another country is doing that is also affected by the actions of a dictatorship. “What I am clear about is that the negative effects that the dictatorial government of Venezuela has generated are affecting the quality of life of the entire continent and I hope it will be resolved as soon as possible.
