The Nader Art Gallery presents “Que Viva la Vida”, a solo exhibition by the renowned Colombian-born artist María Cerchar, an exhibition that celebrates joy, love, freedom, and the human capacity to find beauty and hope in everyday life.
Life is made up of moments that seem simple while they are happening, but which over time become the most valuable memories: an improvised dance, a trip, a song, a toast, or a love story.
“Que Viva la Vida” (Long Live Life) is born as a celebration of those moments that connect us with who we are and with the people we love. Through vibrant colors, characters without a defined identity, and symbols charged with optimism, the works gathered in this exhibition speak of encounters, emotions, complicities, and shared dreams. Each scene invites the viewer to complete the story from their own experiences and memories.
Rather than portraying specific people, these paintings recreate universal emotions, because happiness is rarely found in grand events, but rather is lived in the small moments that end up becoming the most important chapters of our history. “Que Viva la Vida” is, therefore, an invitation to pause, observe, and remember that life, with all its movement, beauty, and imperfections, deserves to be celebrated.
María Cerchar’s hallmark is the absence of faces in her characters. By stripping them of defined features, the artist opens a blank space that each viewer completes with their own story. Whoever observes a scene of two figures embracing or a group gathered around a table does not see strangers, but rather projects their own affections, absences, and memories onto them.

This visual strategy is sustained by a vibrant palette and a composition in constant motion, populated by recurring symbols—flowers, birds, moons, and clasped hands—that function as an emotional vocabulary recognizable throughout their entire body of work. The result is a pictorial universe that, without renouncing lightness and color, invites a leisurely reading of each piece and, at the same time, proposes a reflection on what we truly value as time passes.
About the artist
María Cerchar is a Colombian artist whose work explores the beauty of human relationships and her immediate surroundings. An architect by training, she has also ventured into the world of design and visual arts, developing an artistic proposal in which narrative, composition, and emotion coexist in balance.
Throughout her career, she has participated in national and international exhibitions in cities such as Bogotá, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, and Lima, being recognized for her sensitivity, optimism, and ability to connect with people from different cultures. She currently lives and works in Barranquilla, Colombia, where she develops her artistic production and directs her creative studio.
Through the exhibition “Que Viva la Vida”, María Cerchar arrives for the first time on the Dominican exhibition scene, offering the local public the opportunity to approach a proposal that has already found resonance in different cities across Europe and Latin America.
The exhibition, inaugurated on July 16 at Nader Design Center with the support of KahKow and Cemí Ron Dominicano, will remain open to the public until August 7, 2026, with free admission, at 18 San Martín de Porres Street, corner of Rafael Augusto Sánchez, Naco sector, Santo Domingo.
