National Police captures in Espaillat a fugitive wanted for homicide committed in La Caleta

Moca.– Agents of the National Police assigned to the Investigation Division (DICRIM) of the Gaspar Hernández municipality, in coordination with preventive members of that jurisdiction, arrested a man via judicial order who had been a fugitive since 2018 for his alleged participation in a homicide that occurred in the La Caleta municipality, Santo Domingo province.

The detainee is Luis Fermín Padilla, also known as Jonathan Fermín Pichardo (a) “Tembleque“, 39 years old, a resident of the El Semillero sector, in Gaspar Hernández, who was wanted by the justice system under arrest warrant No. 530-2018-EMES-016527, issued by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the Judicial District of Santo Domingo.

According to investigations, the defendant is accused of having caused the death of José Ernesto Matos (a) “Culebra”, in an incident recorded in the El Valiente sector, of the aforementioned municipality, allegedly motivated by personal conflicts between both parties.

According to the preliminary report, the victim died as a result of stab wounds allegedly received during the incident. When questioned by investigators, the detainee admitted his participation in the event, claiming that he acted after the victim had allegedly assaulted him previously with a bladed weapon.

The capture was possible thanks to the intelligence and surveillance work carried out by the acting agents, who managed to locate and arrest the accused after several years of evading justice.

The detainee remains in police custody and will be transferred to the corresponding jurisdiction for the appropriate legal purposes.
