Ballistic analysis performed on shell casing recovered at the scene
The National Police reported that it is deepening investigations to clarify the death of basketball player Yeuri Rodríguez Batista, 30, who passed away while receiving medical attention after being wounded by gunfire during an incident under investigation that occurred last Sunday in the San Carlos sector, National District.
Investigative efforts continue to be focused on identifying, locating, and capturing the person responsible.
The institution’s spokesperson, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, explained that the investigation teams, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, are intensifying inquiries through the collection and analysis of surveillance cameras, witness interviews, and the follow-up of relevant information to strengthen the investigative process.
Likewise, he reported that specialists are conducting a ballistic analysis of one of the casings collected at the scene, which is being compared with evidence from other criminal acts to establish possible matches that contribute to the identification of the perpetrator.

Preliminarily, investigations indicate that a single individual arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, parked it, and subsequently approached the victim, who was installing a sound system in their vehicle along with another person. During a struggle, the assailant fired several shots and fled the scene.
The National Police reiterated that, although one of the initial hypotheses points to an attempted robbery, the motive for the incident has not yet been conclusively established.
The institution assured that it will continue to exhaust all investigative efforts until the case is clarified and the person responsible is brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
