Police and Public Ministry arrest two men for the death of an ERD captain in Villa Altagracia

Villa Altagracia, D.R. – National Police agents, in coordination with the Public Ministry, arrested two men identified as the alleged perpetrators of the death of Dominican Republic Army (ERD) Captain Oliver Octavio Ogando Suero, who died after receiving gunshot wounds in an incident that occurred early this Sunday in the Tierra Santa sector, Villa Altagracia municipality.

The detainees were identified as Luismi Sánchez Sánchez (alias) “El Ruso”, 20 years old, and José Luis Alcántara Lebrón (alias) “Trimbi”. According to the preliminary report, two firearms were seized from Sánchez Sánchez, one of which is registered in the name of the deceased officer.

Authorities reported that the event occurred during a conflict whose circumstances are still under investigation, while Police and Public Ministry teams work to establish how the incident happened and determine responsibilities.

During the scene processing and inspection of the deceased’s vehicle, investigators found the officer’s personal belongings, including a sum of cash, items that are part of the investigation process.

The National Police and the Public Ministry indicated that they continue to expand the investigations to fully clarify the case and collect the necessary evidence.

The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the coming hours for the corresponding legal purposes.
