Police arrest two men accused of physically and sexually assaulting a woman in Licey al Medio, Santiago

Santiago.- Agents of the National Police’s Investigations Department, assigned to the municipality of Licey al Medio, arrested two men accused of alleged physical and sexual assault against a woman, following a complaint filed by the victim with the authorities.

The detainees were identified as Jensy Manuel Alba Santos and Luis Manuel Rojas García, alias Mandela, both residents of that locality. The arrest was carried out within the framework of the investigative actions initiated after the female presented a formal complaint, which allowed the corresponding legal protocols to be activated.

According to the institution’s spokesperson in this city, Fiordaliza Popa Arias, those involved would have engaged in acts of physical and sexual violence, facts that are being investigated by the competent bodies to establish criminal responsibilities.

Arias indicated that his arrest, Alba Santos and Rojas García were transferred to the Department of Gender Violence, where they remain in custody, awaiting to be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the knowledge of the coercive measures established by law.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to act firmly against cases of gender violence and urged victims to report any act of aggression, guaranteeing confidentiality and accompaniment during the judicial process.
