Santo Domingo.– The National Police reported the arrest of a man identified as Osvaldo Alexander Mojica Brito, alias “Bebé”, who had been sought by authorities since 2021 for his alleged connection to a homicide case.
The arrest took place during an operation carried out on Venezuela Avenue, in the Alma Rosa sector, Santo Domingo East, as a result of intelligence and surveillance work conducted by agents of the Central Unit for the Capture of Fugitives, Rebels, and Convicts (UCAPRE), with the support of other police units and the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Attention System.
According to the institution, at the time of the intervention, the suspect allegedly attempted to avoid arrest by firing shots at the officers, who returned fire. During the incident, Mojica Brito was wounded in the leg while, allegedly, trying to escape in a pickup truck.
The authorities reported that a 9-millimeter caliber pistol was seized from the detainee, along with a magazine and several rounds of ammunition, items that will be subjected to the corresponding analyses as part of the investigation.

The man was wanted by a judicial warrant issued in 2021 for his alleged responsibility in a homicide, in addition to being investigated for alleged violations of Law 631-16 on Arms, Ammunition and Related Materials.
The Police indicated that the detainee remains admitted under custody at the Dr. Darío Contreras Traumatology Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. Once he is discharged, he will be handed over to the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
The institution specified that investigations are continuing with the purpose of clarifying all aspects of the case and establishing whether there are other people involved in the events attributed to them.
