It was the outfielder’s first grand slam of his career and the 32nd home run of his season. Greene’s imposing home run not only ignited his team, but also left several outstanding marks according to Statcast:- Ties with Denzel Clarke (Athletics) for the fourth-longest home run of the season in MLB.
- It’s the longest home run by the Tigers since Statcast began measuring distances in 2015 (surpassing Jeimer Candelario and J.D. Martinez’s 467 feet).
- Ties with Giancarlo Stanton for the second-longest grand slam under Statcast tracking, only behind Kyle Schwarber (473 feet).
- Surpasses his own personal best, which was 453 feet in 2023.
This was only the second grand slam of the season for the Tigers, after the one connected by Javier Báez on April 30 against the Astros. Before the game, Detroit was tied with the Rockies as the fifth team with fewer grand slams in the league this year.
Greene’s hit came with the Tigers down 3-0, after a home run by rookie Jacob Wilson, and momentarily put Detroit ahead. However, the Athletics responded with two runs in the bottom of the third inning and ended up winning the game in extra innings
The series in West Sacramento has been marked by home runs with the bases loaded. On Monday, Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers had hit another decisive grand slam in the 8-3 victory over Detroit.
