Seoul.- The South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics expects to post an operating profit of around 89.4 trillion won (about 58.45 billion dollars) between April and June of this year, which would exceed in a single quarter its combined annual results between 2023 and 2025.

In the three fiscal years between 2023 and 2025, Samsung Electronics reported a combined operating profit of 82.9 trillion won ($54.3 billion), 6.5 trillion won less than the forecast for the second quarter of this year.

According to the forecast report published by the South Korean firm, sales revenue, for its part, grew to 171 trillion won (111.729 billion dollars) between April and June.

The billing result is almost 2.3 times higher than the 74.57 trillion won ($48.755 billion) from the second quarter of 2025.

Compared to the previous quarter, the first of 2026, Samsung expects to increase its operating profit by 56.2% from the 57.23 trillion won ($37.432 billion) recorded between January and March, which already set a record for the company.

As is customary in its earnings forecasts, the company did not provide estimates for its net profit nor did it break down data by business divisions.

However, it is estimated that the growth was largely due to the solid performance of its Device Solutions (DS) division, which encompasses the semiconductor business, amid the sector’s boom and after this unit accounted for the bulk of Samsung’s operating profit in the previous quarter.

The South Korean conglomerate is expected to release its final financial report for the second quarter later this month.

Despite the publication of the record forecast report, shares of the tech giant plummeted by around 6.5% in the first hour of trading on the Seoul Stock Exchange, due to an apparent profit-taking.
