Mexico. – Mexican authorities confirmed that the military operation in which Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” was killed, had the collaboration of security agencies from the United States, as part of the bilateral cooperation mechanisms in intelligence matters.
The intervention was carried out by special forces of the
Secretariat of National Defense in the municipality of
Tapalpa, in the state of
Jalisco, where the alleged leader of the
Jalisco New Generation Cartel was located after coordinated intelligence work.
According to the official report, the operation included strategic support in the exchange of key information that allowed the location of the priority target. During the confrontation, several members of the criminal group died and others were arrested, in addition to the seizure of high-caliber weaponry and armored vehicles.
Authorities noted that international cooperation was crucial to the mission’s success, highlighting that the fall of the CJNG leader represents a significant blow against one of the criminal organizations with the greatest presence in Mexican territory.
Following the announcement, the Mexican government reiterated its commitment to continue strengthening joint actions with the United States to combat drug trafficking and the organized crime structures operating in the region.
The operation has generated reactions in both Mexico and the United States, where officials described the event as a significant step forward in the bilateral fight against drug trafficking.
