Miami.- President Donald Trump presented the new Air Force One this Friday in its first public exhibition, a Boeing 747-8 whose renovation was valued at 400 million dollars and donated by Qatar.

Trump descended the airplane stairs inside a hangar at Joint Base Andrews, the military airfield located on the outskirts of Washington.

“There will never be one like this. It is very unique. It is considered the most luxurious plane in the world“, stated the president during the presentation.

The aircraft, a Boeing 747-8, was painted in the red, white, and blue colors of the United States flag at Trump’s request for use as the presidential aircraft, replacing the current Air Force One model, which has been in service for 35 years.

The retired aircraft, a Boeing 747-200B used as Air Force One when transporting the president, made its final flight last night while taking Trump back to Washington after his participation in the G7 summit in France.

The New York tycoon also announced that this new aircraft will lead an air parade on July 4th, the day the country turns 250 years old, in Washington.

The Pentagon accepted the gift from Qatar, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East, despite ethical questions raised by such a donation and concerns about the aircraft’s security.

The plan is to use the Qatari plane temporarily as Air Force One while Boeing completes the construction and modernization of the two planes ordered during Trump’s first term (2017-2021).

The Air Force announced this Friday the arrival of the aircraft, whose military designation is VC-25B Bridge, to the Presidential Airlift Group at Joint Base Andrews (Maryland), where it will begin a series of certification flights before formally joining the fleet in charge of transporting the U.S. president.

The aircraft will begin tests aimed at validating its operational capabilities and the protocols necessary to safely transport the president.

According to the Air Force, the delivery of the aircraft responds to the need to reduce pressure on the aging VC-25A fleet, whose maintenance cycles are becoming increasingly extensive.

The agency also highlighted that any aircraft operating under the ‘Air Force One’ call sign must meet strict security requirements to ensure that the president remains protected and fully connected during their travels.
