Unión Deportiva de Monseñor Nouel honors Teoscar Hernández as Athlete of the Year

BONAO. – The Sports Union of Monseñor Noel, Bonao, awarded Major League slugger Teoscar Hernández, two-time World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The award ceremony for the veteran patrolman took place on the occasion of the Awards Gala held each year by the Unión Deportiva de Monseñor Nouel (UDEMON). He was chosen for his performance with the National League West Division team, which he has helped win the two World Series of 2024 and 2025.

Teoscar received the award from the board of directors of the Sports Union, chaired by Roberto Gerez, and members Irene Báez, vice president; Andry Castillo, Raldhomas Ángeles, José Eusebio Mejía, Rolando Tiburcio, Quique Vásquez Sosa, Raúl Ortíz, Maira Vicente, Antonio Pacheco and Nicolasina Alberto. Gerez highlighted the player’s level of professionalism and personal trajectory, factors that, according to him, influenced the awarding of the prize.

In other news, player Imanol Vargas was selected as the baseball player of the year, for his achievements in 2025, which included winning the Summer League Championship with Mineros de Bonao, a franchise that was also awarded for obtaining its second title.

Swear in directive

During the event, the new board of directors of the Mineros de Bonao summer team, headed by Doctor of Law Eberto Núñez, was also sworn in. Núñez, who is also the mayor of the municipality of Bonao, expressed feeling prepared for the challenge and assured that he will start working now on obtaining the 2026 championship. The swearing-in was done by lawyer Víctor Vásquez Sosa (Quique), Executive Vice President of the Bonao Miners. Vásquez Sosa expressed his joy at the entry of lawyer Eberto Núñez, to the Miners, cataloging the movement as a step forward in the team’s structure. He also announced the entry as a director of the young entrepreneur with experience in management and business structure Gregory Fermín, who takes over as treasurer of the franchise. The new directive is made up of, in addition to Núñez, Vásquez Sosa and Fermín, Julio Nolasco, vice president of baseball operations and marketing; Domingo Reyes, secretary and legal advisor Evangelina Sosa.
