Caracas.- The Government of Venezuela confirmed this Sunday the participation of the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, in the UN General Assembly, which is being held in New York, where she is scheduled to meet on Tuesday with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
The last visit by a Venezuelan head of state was that of Nicolás Maduro in 2018, who is now being held in a prison just a few kilometers from the UN, after he was captured by U.S. forces last January in Caracas during a military operation.
In a message posted on X, Venezuela’s Ministry of Communication announced that Rodríguez “will carry the nation’s voice to the world stage.”
“See you at the UN!“, expressed the Ministry of Communication in the message, where it highlighted that Venezuela, thanks to “previous efforts”, has recovered its status and has rejoined “the planet’s diplomatic dynamics”.

The White House announced on Friday that Trump and Rodríguez will meet on Tuesday in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, in the first meeting between the two.
This will also be the first meeting between a U.S. president and a Venezuelan leader in more than 11 years, since the brief meeting held by Barack Obama and Maduro during the 2015 Summit of the Americas, held in Panama.
