Wellington Arnaud affirms La Pava canal sanitation in Nizao guarantees quality of life for residents

Santo Domingo.- The executive director of the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, presented this Tuesday the sanitation project of the La Pava canal to the municipalities, entrepreneurs and authorities of the Nizao municipality, Peravia province, which covers an extension of 5.5 kilometers, guaranteeing the quality of life of the residents of the area. The approximate investment is RD$489,078,818.64 million pesos. The official stated that the work is a commitment of President Luis Abinader, who, during a meeting of the Drinking Water and Construction Cabinet, ordered its execution, to benefit more than 9,000 inhabitants in the next 25 years, thus protecting the population growth of that demarcation. The sectors to be intervened with sanitation are Mono Mojado, the town center, Ciudad Nueva, Don Gregorio, and the sectors of the southern zone of Nizao. During the presentation, Arnaud promised that the floods caused by the La Pava ravine will be a thing of the past when the system of gully connections, the collecting rainwater network, the prefabricated manholes, and the channeling of the waters begin to function.

The Executive Director of INAPA highlighted that the work will feature landscaping around the ravine, the construction of a park with a playground, gazebo, and gym, among other recreational and cultural amenities. “With this project we are going to bring peace of mind to the families that were often surprised by the floods caused by the lack of channeling and sanitation,” Arnaud said. The work includes a gravity sewer system with collector lines and more than 800 inspection manholes, in reinforced concrete, one meter deep, among other components. The director of the institution stated that the current government administration headed by President Luis Abinader has had on its agenda, as a priority, to bring solutions to every Dominican home, not only for the potable water service, but also to provide health through the sanitation of wastewater. The activity was attended by Congressman Luis Baez; the mayor of Nizao, Iván Reyes; the journalist Altagracia Salazar; the mayor of the municipality of Baní, Santo Ramírez, as well as the president of the Nizao chapter hall, Demetrio Paulino, among other figures from the province of Peravia.
