Santo Domingo. – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, specified this Monday during his weekly meeting with the press, LA Semanal, that his government will not allow under any circumstances acts of corruption or irregularities in public administration.
In that sense, the president warned that in the most recent Government Council to officials about the consequences of engaging in acts of corruption.
“We read the guidelines to all officials during the Government Council, many even called and asked the prosecutor to go to their respective institutions… It’s a strong message that we will not accept an illegal act and that if they commit an illegal act they will have to face justice,” said the president.
Abinader explained that the new Penal Code includes clear provisions to address administrative corruption, reinforcing sanctions for those who misappropriate public resources or use their position for personal gain.
