Santo Domingo, DN – Carolina Mejía and Minister José Paliza supervised the final works being carried out on the Paseo 30 de Mayo, announcing that this project, which will consolidate the recreational and sports options of the boardwalk, will be inaugurated next week.
The mayor of the National District highlighted the rigorous compliance with the work schedule in order to deliver the project within the stipulated time.

“It is designed for everyone to come and enjoy it. This here is 360-degree well-being,” assured Mejía, noting that the new project complements the Sports Boardwalk and the Promenade to positively impact the lives of citizens.
Carolina valued the beauty of the place with its outdoor gym, the bike path, exercise trails, children’s playgrounds, the food and beverage area, among others. “And as you can see, everything is in harmony, designed for our people,” added Carolina.
For his part, the Minister of the Presidency described it as the conjunction of several visions, between the government of President Luis Abinader and Carolina’s management at the National District City Hall, to create a before and after in the capital with projects such as the Paseo 30 de Mayo.
“If there is something interesting that I would like to highlight, and I always do, about the administration of Mayor Carolina Mejía, it is that she has managed to recover hundreds of public spaces in partnership with civil society, with top-tier institutions that have put their name alongside the National District City Council to make it possible,” he stressed.
Paliza emphasized that this project is one more effort to return the capital to its citizens, giving them back the ability to go out and live and enjoy the spaces. “Santo Domingo was a city that, in large part because its public spaces were not recognized, worked on, recovered, and valued, did not live facing the sea; that is changing. With the effort of the National District City Hall and the vision of President Abinader, we are giving the sea back to the people,” he stated.
The Santo Domingo boardwalk, consolidated as the main leisure center of the capital thanks to the renovations led by Carolina Mejía, is preparing to continue transforming with the inauguration next week of the long-awaited Paseo 30 de Mayo.

The project, which covers 50,000 square meters of intervention, is located on the former grounds of the Maharishi school and is one of the most iconic projects in current urban planning due to the way it integrates sports, family life, and green areas.
Another distinctive element of the project is the so-called “malecón slab,” a floor specially designed to visually represent the rich marine coastline of Santo Domingo, providing aesthetic identity and urban value especially for this area. This pavement covering is the first of its kind and design in the country.
Authorities reported that the Maharishi ruins will remain on-site to preserve history and will be occupied by commercial areas and a restroom module for park visitors.
In addition, the project will connect the 30 de Mayo highway with Independencia Avenue, attracting the public to make use of its bike path, pedestrian promenade, sports courts, exercise trails, parking lots, and other amenities that complement the offerings the boardwalk provides following the restorations carried out during Mejía’s tenure at the head of the National District City Hall.
The 30 de Mayo Promenade and the newly inaugurated Sports Boardwalk, developed within the Integrated Plan of Santo Domingo, will form a new recreation and exercise corridor facing the sea, which not only expands the options for the residents of the capital, but also strengthens it as the boardwalk for all Dominicans.
